Sandy Busby passes away

The Manchester United Supporters Club of NSW are sad to report that Sandy Busby - son of the club's legendary former manager Sir Matt Busby - has passed away.

Sandy Busby was a patron of our club for many years and was always generous with his time and was always good when dealing with our club.
Our club chairman has been in contact with Sandy a lot over the last few years and only spoke to him a few weeks ago.
Sandy understood better than almost anyone what the Manchester United way means and his enthusiasm, his wit and his affection for the club will be sorely missed.
Our supporters club have arranged for flowers to be sent to Sandy's family to express our condolences.

August 13th 2014

Our Supporters club held its annual general meeting on Monday 11th August. We had a great turn out as we reviewed the past year and planned for the next. 2013 was a great year for the supporters club as we saw our team visit our shores and 2014 is proving to be a great year with the club celebrating its 20th anniversary.

The memories of United's trip to Sydney in July 2013 will be remembered for years to come and the Supporters Club was privileged to be a part of many events through that week.  2014 sees the club celebrate its 20th year and we celebrated with a dinner in March commemorating the clubs achievments and milestones.

It was great to see so many members at our meeting on Monday and we look forward to seeing many more at our monthly meetings and events throughout the year. Stay tuned for the events we organise. We aim to update any news from Old Trafford and from our supporters club as soon as it comes to hand so check out the website, facebook and twitter page for updates.

Congratulations to David De Gea who was voted Player of the Season for 2013/2014 by our members and to the winners of the raffle prizes on the night.

Our 2014 annual raffle is now open with 8 fantastic prizes up for grabs including a signed Antonio Valencia shirt and a signed Nobby Stiles autobiography. Tickets are $2 each and the winners will be drawn at our October monthly meeting. Contact the club for more details.av copy

In 1994 lifelong Manchester United fans Fred and Ann Pollitt started the first official Manchester United supporters club in Australia. 20 years later on Saturday 15th March we came together to celebrate the milestone. It was great to see our members get together to celebrate our club and support the best football club on earth.

A big thank you to former United players Francis Burns and Liam Miller, Sydney FC goalkeeper Vedran Janjetovic and Brisbane Roar coach Mick Mulvey for attending!

Thank you also must go to our members and guests for attending and everyone who made the night possible.

Check out our pics on facebook.

Here's to another 20 years!!!

On the 15th of September 2013 our supporters club along with 5 Sports hosted a Charity Football Tournament to raise money for two important charities, Billee Wynen and the George Best Foundation. This was the second year the tournament was held and just like 2012, the day was very successful in raising much needed funds. Billee Wynen is a young girl from the Sutherland area of Sydney who has a very rare brain condition called Lissencephaly. The money raised will go towards helping improve Billee's living conditions and her standard of living. The other charity, the George Best Foundation was formed to help medical research for illnesses caused by alcohol misuse and other alcohol related issues.

The Manchester United Supporters club would like to thank  5 Sports, all businesses who donated and of course everyone who participated on the day and donated their time to make the day successful.
